10th Birthday

We celebrated Rainy's birthday at the end of July!  Now this was interesting!  The older girls were at their first girls camp for a week, and Brandon and the boys were at some scouting activity.  This left me and Rainy to party hardy!!
Rainy told me that all she wanted for her bday was a pair of red converse! SCORE! CUTE!!! I loved obliging this one!
Wow Rainy looks so grown up in this picture!  Every year, Rainy has me take her to Red Lobster for her private birthday meal of popcorn shrimp and a strawberry smoothie... and YES she chose that broccoli herself... as a birthday treat! Broccoli is a treat in our home!! I LOVE it personally... much to Brandon's dismay... but since they all love it so much... I cook it a lot!

Rainy also likes to see a movie during our private hour and luncheon when it is her birthday week.  This year she chose Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days.. any movie with the word 'dog' in it is usually picked.

Blondie

Every year we go to family camp for a week.

Since Rainy was little she has been a fashion diva.  She is seriously the most well dressed/matched person in the house.  She just has a sense of style... and now that she is older, a real sense of flare for colors and patterns... basically she always looks ready for to be invited to the ball!

So for years she has chosen to have her hair cut in a layered bob.  She is very meticulous too and tells me when it needs to be trimmed up.  However, this year she decided to grow out her hair.  So last summer (above picture) was her last bob.

Halloween 2012

Rainy still loves stories taking place in mystical worlds.  They are her favorite.  Whenever it is a snowy day she loves to grab me and ask if I will watch "Merlin" with her (A show about King Arthur's court, Merlin, and Dragons by the BBC).

We have seriously watched each episode several times... from all seasons.  So in the show there is the Lady Morgana.  Rainy loves her and her red velvet capes, sooooo without further adoooooo... her is the Lady Morgana... in our home...

Wax Museum

Being in 5th grade here is a big deal.  The children spend half the year studying the states and the other half of the year studying the government and presidents for social studies.  Every 5th grader is assigned a state to do a 'state' report on.  Then at the end of the term the 5th graders each choose a remarkable person from their state of study and make the school look like a wax museum for all the other younger children.

Rainy was assigned Ohio at the beginning of the year.  So for her inspirational wax museum character, she chose to be Annie Oakley.  Rainy stood in her spot all morning with a little button affixed to her and if any children (or visiting parents) pressed it, she gave a little spiel on Annie's life. :)
